A historic moment arrived for New York City gaming on Tuesday, April 28, when Resorts World NYC unveiled the city’s inaugural live dealer casino floor. The milestone event took place at the Queens location with a celebratory grand opening.
For the first time within city boundaries, players gained access to live blackjack, craps, baccarat, and roulette tables. Prior to this launch, such table game offerings had been unavailable anywhere in New York City.
The expanded gaming floor now hosts more than 240 live dealer tables. Combined with the property’s 2,500+ slot machines already in operation, guests now have significantly expanded gaming choices.
Reports from The New York Times indicated substantial crowds showed up for the debut. Players were seated at tables and actively gaming within moments of the floor becoming accessible.
From Racino to Complete Casino Resort
Malaysia’s Genting Group oversees operations at Resorts World. Company representatives have characterized this expansion as a pivotal transformation from a slots-exclusive racino format to a comprehensive casino destination.
This evolution significantly strengthens the venue’s competitive position within New York City’s gaming landscape. The expansion also diversifies the entertainment portfolio available to guests visiting the complex.
The launch became possible following regulatory authorization from the New York State Gaming Commission. Months prior to final approval, Resorts World had been identified as a contender for full casino licensing.
In preparation for the debut, the organization conducted an extensive recruitment campaign. The hiring initiative brought approximately 1,250 new employees into the organization to support expanded operations.
Among these new positions, roughly 950 individuals were hired specifically as table game dealers. This workforce expansion also supports upcoming development phases.
Additional gaming areas are targeted for completion in fall 2026. The current launch represents an initial stage of a substantially larger property development plan.
Statewide Gaming Growth Trajectory
This opening aligns with New York’s ongoing statewide casino development initiatives. Two additional licensed casino properties are projected to begin operations around 2030.
As the first venue to introduce live table gaming within city limits, Resorts World holds a distinct market advantage. This first-to-market position provides unique opportunities in the local gaming sector.
The venue’s growth reflects wider momentum across New York’s gaming sector. State regulators have been progressively authorizing expanded full-service casino operations.
The 2026 development phase is anticipated to introduce further enhancements to the property. Specific details regarding these future additions remain under wraps for now.
Resorts World New York City’s live dealer gaming floor is fully operational, featuring over 240 table games and supported by approximately 1,250 newly hired team members.
