BetHog, the cryptocurrency-focused gaming platform created by the team behind FanDuel, has completed a $10 million Series A investment round. Alongside the funding announcement, the company unveiled Sentient Studios—a business-to-business solution enabling online casino platforms to deploy artificial intelligence-powered live dealers.
The funding round saw co-leadership from Will Ventures and RockawayX, with additional backing from PCV, 6MV, Bullpen Capital, and Advancit Capital.
Since its establishment in 2024, BetHog has now accumulated $16 million in total financing.
According to CEO and co-founder Nigel Eccles, the platform’s AI dealer technology underwent extensive testing throughout the previous six months, yielding impressive performance metrics. The AI-powered dealer demonstrated engagement levels “10X more popular than its live dealer equivalent,” while simultaneously improving both player retention rates and overall satisfaction scores.
The Mechanics Behind Sentient Studios
Sentient Studios was developed to provide casino operators with enhanced autonomy over their live dealer operations. Under conventional arrangements, gaming platforms generally depend on external studio providers for live dealer services, creating constraints around capacity management, language localization, and product personalization.
The new platform empowers operators to dynamically adjust table capacity based on demand while supporting numerous language options. Operators can also customize dealer interactions in real time without maintaining physical studio infrastructure or managing dealer personnel.
The business model relies exclusively on revenue sharing. Without setup charges or mandatory contracts, operators face minimal financial risk when evaluating the technology.
Eccles suggested that AI dealers might eliminate barriers for users who find traditional live dealers intimidating. Players have described the AI-powered experience as “more welcoming and less intimidating,” he noted.
He highlighted systemic challenges within the existing human dealer framework as contributing factors. Live dealers frequently receive minimum wage compensation, work overnight shifts, and communicate in languages they haven’t fully mastered, Eccles explained.
Additionally, dealers face penalties for errors while receiving no incentives for creating entertaining broadcasts. Employee retention in these positions typically spans just a few months, he stated.
“The result is that 95%+ of streams are dull with dealers speaking robotically and often incoherently,” Eccles said. “In this scenario, AI can actually deliver a more human experience than humans.”
Investment Partners and Future Plans
Will Ventures specializes in investments across sports, entertainment, and consumer sectors. RockawayX operates as a digital asset investment entity overseeing more than $2 billion in venture capital, credit facilities, and infrastructure projects.
BetHog introduced its inaugural AI dealer—a blackjack host called Sunny—in October 2025. The character now operates across 12 different languages and has emerged as among the platform’s most frequently played offerings.
The roadmap includes expansion into baccarat and roulette variants before the end of this year. BetHog presently supports deposits in 10 different cryptocurrencies while providing gaming experiences in 14 languages.
The company plans to allocate its Series A capital toward advancing its AI dealer capabilities and driving broader adoption among international casino operators. While Sentient Studios initially operates exclusively on BetHog’s proprietary platform, Eccles has confirmed ongoing conversations with external operators about potential integration opportunities.
