The Worldcoin (WLD) token experienced a sharp 13.4% decline to $0.28 on Friday, April 17, coinciding with World Network’s announcement of significant system enhancements and numerous platform collaborations.
This downward movement contrasted sharply with the wider cryptocurrency market, which posted a 2.2% increase following positive developments regarding US-Iran relations and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz shipping lane.
At a San Francisco event, World Network—co-created by OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman—introduced its “World 4.0” evolution. This comprehensive upgrade establishes World ID as a complete “full-stack proof of human” framework designed for individual users, commercial enterprises, and artificial intelligence systems.
The verification technology relies on the Orb, a specialized device that captures facial and iris scans in person to produce a distinct cryptographic identifier. Following data processing, the original images are permanently erased, with only anonymized information distributed throughout a decentralized network.
Daniel Shorr, a senior executive at the company, stated during the presentation: “World 4.0 is powerful, scalable and open. In the age of AI, being human will be incredibly valuable and the internet will want to know you’re human.”
Sam Altman emphasized: “World ID is on the way to being a real human network for the internet.”
The 4.0 upgrade introduces several innovative capabilities, including account-based identity architecture, support for multiple cryptographic keys, and comprehensive account recovery mechanisms. World Network simultaneously released a beta version of its standalone World ID application, enabling users to control and distribute their verification credentials across various platforms.
Strategic Platform Partnerships
Video conferencing leader Zoom is implementing World’s “Deep Face” verification technology to confirm that individuals attending meetings are authentic humans rather than AI-generated deepfakes. Digital signature provider Docusign is incorporating World ID authentication into its electronic agreement infrastructure.

Popular dating platform Tinder is rolling out its World ID “verified human” authentication badge to users throughout the United States. Additionally, World unveiled its “Concert Kit” solution designed to assist musicians in allocating tickets exclusively to genuine individuals, effectively eliminating automated scalper bots.
The gaming sector saw announcements of collaborations with Razer and Mythical Games, while social platform Reddit confirmed it is evaluating World’s technology for automated bot identification and prevention.
Business Solutions and AI Integration
For corporate applications, World has established partnerships with Okta, Vercel, and Browserbase. These collaborative efforts focus on establishing authentication frameworks for automated business processes.
World Network additionally released “AgentKit,” a comprehensive developer resource that connects artificial intelligence agents with authenticated human identities. Coinbase previously revealed in March its intention to implement AgentKit within its x402 AI micropayments infrastructure.
The expanding partner network also features Amazon Web Services, Shopify, Browserbase, Exa, and VanEck among established collaborators.
Privacy advocates have expressed apprehensions regarding the large-scale collection of biometric information, especially when oversight remains concentrated within a single corporate entity.
WLD serves as the primary token for the World Network ecosystem, functioning as an incentive mechanism for identity verification participants and facilitating transactions throughout the platform.
