Shares of NIO (NIO) climbed more than 9% during Wednesday’s trading session and extended gains over 2% in premarket activity after the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer released its latest delivery figures.
The Shanghai-based automaker reported March 2026 deliveries of 35,486 vehicles, representing a substantial 136% jump from the same month in 2025.
These figures span three distinct brands within NIO’s portfolio. The core NIO brand delivered 22,490 vehicles. The family-focused ONVO line contributed 6,877 units, and the recently launched premium compact brand FIREFLY added 6,119 deliveries.
Looking at the entire first quarter of 2026, the company’s combined deliveries reached 83,465 vehicles, representing a 98.3% surge compared to Q1 2025 — nearly doubling its performance from the prior year.
By the end of March 31, 2026, NIO had achieved cumulative deliveries of 1,081,057 vehicles, passing the significant one million vehicle milestone during the quarter.
The delivery figures were announced on April 1, 2026, through an official company statement issued from its Shanghai headquarters.
Redesigned ES8 Reaches 80,000 Units in Record Time
A particularly notable achievement highlighted in the announcement: the All-New ES8 hit 80,000 deliveries on March 20, 2026 — merely 181 days following its market introduction.
This flagship SUV claimed the top spot in China’s large SUV market segment for three straight months, dominating across all powertrain types and pricing tiers. Leading this highly competitive category in one of the planet’s most challenging EV markets represents a significant accomplishment.
The company attributed the ES8’s strong showing to its distinctive product features and consistent consumer interest.
Meanwhile, the ONVO brand, designed for family-oriented buyers, continues expanding its delivery volumes following its more recent market entry. FIREFLY, the company’s compact premium EV offering, contributed more than 6,000 units during its initial full months of volume production.
First Quarter 2026 Marks Significant Growth Milestone
The quarterly total of 83,465 deliveries represents a substantial improvement over previous quarters. The nearly doubled year-over-year growth positions NIO significantly ahead of its performance trajectory through early 2025.
The automaker’s three-brand strategy, each targeting distinct market segments, appears to be yielding positive results based on the March performance data.
NIO’s lifetime delivery count has now surpassed 1.08 million vehicles since the company began deliveries.
The stock’s strong Wednesday performance demonstrates investor confidence in the delivery results. Shares climbed more than 9% during the trading session immediately following the announcement.
