Mistral AI, a prominent European artificial intelligence developer, has closed an $830 million debt financing round. The Paris-based startup announced plans to deploy the capital toward purchasing 13,800 Nvidia graphics processing units for a forthcoming data center facility in the Paris metropolitan region.
This marks Mistral’s inaugural venture into debt markets. A syndicate of seven financial institutions underwrote the transaction, featuring BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole CIB, HSBC, and MUFG among the participants.
The computing facility will be situated in Bruyeres-le-Chatel, located south of the French capital. Mistral projects the infrastructure will go live during the April-June period of 2026.
Founder and CEO Arthur Mensch emphasized the strategic importance of European infrastructure development. “Scaling our infrastructure in Europe is critical to empower our customers and to ensure AI innovation and autonomy remain at the heart of Europe,” he stated.
Mistral brands itself as a European counterpart to dominant American AI laboratories such as OpenAI and Anthropic. The organization delivers both sophisticated AI models and infrastructure solutions tailored for government entities and corporate clients.

Mistral has accelerated its expansion trajectory considerably. The firm recently announced a €1.2 billion commitment toward establishing AI computing centers in Sweden to boost processing power.
The organization has also established ambitious infrastructure goals. Mistral aims to obtain 200 megawatts of computational capacity throughout Europe before 2027 concludes.
