Shares of CoreWeave experienced a premarket surge exceeding 4% on Wednesday following the announcement of a strategic multi-year collaboration with AI-powered search platform Perplexity.
Axios initially broke the news of this partnership. The arrangement calls for Perplexity to operate its advanced AI inference operations on CoreWeave’s cloud infrastructure.
The AI search firm will leverage dedicated NVIDIA GB200 NVL72-powered cluster systems for these computational tasks. This infrastructure arrangement aims to accommodate Perplexity’s Sonar and Search API platform as demand increases.

Speaking to Axios, CoreWeave’s CEO Mike Intrator characterized the agreement as part of a strategic initiative to broaden the company’s customer portfolio. “This partnership reflects a wider mix of emerging AI leaders adopting the CoreWeave platform,” Intrator explained. “Like many others, they choose us for our unified AI cloud platform — not just access to capacity.”
Perplexity has already initiated inference operations through CoreWeave Kubernetes Service during the preliminary deployment stage.
The search platform is simultaneously utilizing W&B Models for training, fine-tuning, and overseeing models throughout the development lifecycle from testing to deployment.
What Attracted Perplexity to CoreWeave
Dmitry Shevelenko, Perplexity’s chief business officer, pointed to both technical excellence and collaborative partnership as primary factors in selecting CoreWeave. “CoreWeave is an essential partner in our efforts to optimize our infrastructure and the models we use to provide Perplexity users across industries with the strongest AI tools and agents on the market,” he stated.
Max Hjelm, CoreWeave’s SVP of revenue, noted that production AI systems require more than basic computing power. “AI applications running in production require best-in-class performance and reliability as well as a cloud platform designed end-to-end for AI,” he explained.
This collaboration aligns with Perplexity’s comprehensive multi-cloud approach, providing operational flexibility across various infrastructure vendors.
A Reciprocal Partnership
Extending beyond infrastructure services, CoreWeave will implement Perplexity Enterprise Max throughout its own workforce. This deployment provides CoreWeave team members with integrated web and internal search capabilities, research functionality, data visualization tools, and AI model accessibility.
The arrangement represents mutual value creation — CoreWeave secures a significant infrastructure customer while Perplexity gains an enterprise deployment within a rapidly expanding AI company.
CoreWeave has earned Platinum status in both SemiAnalysis ClusterMAX 1.0 and 2.0 assessments, which evaluate AI cloud infrastructure based on performance, efficiency, and dependability. The company stands alone as the only AI cloud provider achieving top-tier recognition in both evaluation cycles.
Following its recent public market debut, CoreWeave has been actively expanding its enterprise AI customer base. The Perplexity agreement brings a prominent brand to its growing client roster.
CRWV stock advanced more than 4% during premarket trading on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
