Broadcom (AVGO), in collaboration with IT distribution specialist Carahsoft Technology, has secured a substantial five-year blanket purchase agreement worth $970 million from the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).
This strategic arrangement aims to simplify and unify software procurement processes across numerous Department of War organizations.
The contract encompasses private cloud infrastructure solutions, Zero Trust security frameworks, and cutting-edge application development capabilities — all consolidated within a single contractual framework.
Participating organizations include DISA, Fourth Estate Agencies, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Space Force, and various Combatant Commands.
Structured as a VMware by Broadcom DoW BPA, the contract is administered through Carahsoft, functioning as an authorized distribution channel for Broadcom. Carahsoft has maintained an extensive partnership with Broadcom to expand its government sector presence.
This arrangement establishes standardized pricing structures and enhanced cost visibility across participating agencies — addressing a longstanding challenge within government technology acquisition processes.
Contract Specifications and Scope
VMware Cloud Foundation, Broadcom’s premier private cloud solution, forms the technological backbone of this agreement.
The contract consolidates acquisition processes for cloud infrastructure, tactical edge computing operations, and application development within a unified procurement mechanism.
Regan McGrath, Americas President at Broadcom, stated the arrangement enables agencies to “accelerate secure digital transformation at scale.”
McGrath further emphasized the agreement’s role in establishing infrastructure for AI-powered defense capabilities, characterizing it as delivering “mission-ready performance” through a consolidated contractual approach.
Financial Terms and Stock Performance
AVGO shares showed minimal downward movement during premarket trading Tuesday morning, coinciding with the contract announcement.
The agreement was officially revealed on March 24, 2026, through a coordinated statement from both organizations.
Currently, neither company has released additional financial details regarding the distribution of the $970 million value beyond confirming the five-year duration.
The blanket purchase agreement structure enables participating agencies to place orders directly under predetermined conditions, substantially decreasing both timeline and expenses associated with separate procurement processes.
DISA functions as the central IT infrastructure provider for the U.S. Department of War, overseeing communications networks and technological infrastructure supporting worldwide military operations.
This agreement strengthens Broadcom’s position within federal defense technology infrastructure, complementing its established government relationships throughout its software offerings.
