Quick Overview
- KeyBanc’s John Vinh increased Intel’s price objective to $70 while maintaining Overweight status
- Server CPU pricing from Intel anticipated to climb 10%–15% during Q2 following comparable Q1 adjustments
- Micron’s memory products (DRAM and NAND) forecast to see 30%–50% price growth in Q2
- Micron stock surged 13.81% over one week, with gains exceeding 300% year-over-year
- Extended supply contracts viewed as safeguards against potential memory market volatility
Both Intel and Micron experienced positive momentum during Monday’s pre-market session as market watchers highlighted robust demand for artificial intelligence server components.
Intel advanced 1.7% to reach $51.25 before regular trading commenced. Micron demonstrated even stronger movement, climbing 3.3% to $378.30 during the same period.
John Vinh, an analyst with KeyBanc, noted that overall server demand has intensified significantly due to AI-agent computing requirements. However, production bottlenecks related to server CPU availability continue to constrain supply.
Vinh elevated his price objective for Intel from $65 to $70, while reaffirming his Overweight recommendation on the semiconductor manufacturer.
His analysis suggests Intel will implement server CPU price increases ranging from 10% to 15% throughout the second quarter. These adjustments follow comparable pricing actions that occurred during the first quarter.
Intel possesses somewhat greater pricing flexibility compared to competitor Advanced Micro Devices, which is limiting itself to a single round of price adjustments, Vinh’s research indicates.
KeyBanc’s analysis also highlighted improvements in Intel’s manufacturing efficiency. The research firm reported that 18A process yields have achieved 65% success rates as production of the Panther Lake processor continues scaling up.
Additionally, Intel has successfully won a contract with Apple for an entry-level processor destined for MacBook and iPad devices. Google’s “Humu Fish” TPU project will incorporate Intel’s EMIB-T packaging technology, representing a potential revenue opportunity valued between $4 billion and $5 billion, according to KeyBanc’s estimates.
Micron Benefits from AI Memory Market Expansion
Micron has experienced remarkable appreciation exceeding 300% during the previous twelve months. The memory manufacturer’s shares jumped 13.81% in the most recent week alone as market participants recognized its strategic position in AI memory solutions.
Analysts representing Cantor Fitzgerald and RBC Capital maintained optimistic positions on the stock. RBC designated Micron as a “Top Pick” and projects DRAM pricing momentum will continue through 2027.
Micron’s high-bandwidth memory production capacity has reached full allocation for the current year. The company’s 2026 HBM manufacturing output is similarly committed through extended contractual arrangements.
Vinh projects DRAM and NAND memory pricing will appreciate 30% to 50% during Q2. He emphasized that recently negotiated long-term supply agreements feature improved structural terms compared to previous contracts, which frequently failed to hold.
“We see the structure of these LTAs as extremely favorable for memory producers as it addresses the shortcomings of past LTAs, which were easily broken, and likely mitigates downcycle risk,” Vinh wrote.
Wall Street Maintains Optimistic Stance Despite Some Reservation
Approximately 26 out of 29 analysts tracking Micron assign it a Buy rating. Consensus price targets suggest additional appreciation potential from present trading levels.
Erste Group recently downgraded Micron to Hold, pointing to substantial capital expenditure requirements and the historically cyclical characteristics of the memory sector. Nevertheless, the firm recognized persistent fundamental demand strength.
Micron’s most recent quarterly financial results exceeded market expectations, propelled by artificial intelligence and data center consumption.
Vinh continues to maintain his $600 price target for Micron with an Overweight rating as of Monday’s assessment.
